About Tryk2
Tryk2 - Bornholm’s printmaking workshop - is centrally located in the small town of Åkirkeby on the Danish island of Bornholm, in the Baltic Sea. Tryk2 is an independent artist-run studio, operated by volunteers with an passion for all aspects of printmaking.
The Vision for Tryk2, right from the start, has been the creation of a professional and affordable printmaking studio on Bornholm - to provide a venue where workshops, courses and other printmaking-related activities can be attended, and paper-related art in general can be promoted. Furthermore, our vision has included the creation of a residential printing studio for local, regional and international artists.
Several areas in Denmark have their own printmaking studio - now Bornholm can be included in the equation. Our desire is that Tryk2 will reinforce Bornholm’s existing, and well renowned, cultural offer.
One is able to join Tryk2 as a member and thus enjoy the facilities and activities that are offered in the workshop. Alternatively, artists with printmaking experience are able to rent the printmaking studio, as well as the apartment with two bedrooms that is included as part of the workshop.
Many artists and printmakers have utilised the printmaking studio since it was originally founded in 1993, under the independent institution ’Galleri2’rn. The printing workshop Tryk2 in its existing structure was founded in 2007. Over many years the workshop’s facilities have been expanded and improved with support from Sparekassen Bornholms Fund, Bornholms Brands Fund, Kunstrådet, Bornholms kulturuge, The Fund for beskæftigelsesfremme, Brødrene E., S. & A. Larsens Legat and so on.
The studio is managed on a daily basis by a leader, supported by a group of between 2 and four people, all of whom are volunteers. The inclusive and open spirit of the studio is created by the passion and dedication of its members.
